After the House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary released a report accusing the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) of colluding with companies to censor conservative voices online, Elon Musk chimed in. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk wrote that X “has no choice but to file suit against the perpetrators and collaborators” behind an advertiser boycott on his platform.
“Hopefully, some states will consider criminal prosecution,” Musk wrote, leading several X users to suggest that Musk wants it to be illegal for brands to refuse to advertise on X.
“Our movement”: In resurfaced speech, Trump endorses Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025
Donald Trump’s backtracking on Project 2025 didn’t seem to fool many – aside from a few hard-line loyalists who expressed betrayal – but apparent proof of his knowledge and endorsement of the far-reaching plan further weakens his claim that he knows “nothing.”
In an April 2022 speech before the Heritage Foundation – the ultra-right group behind the 922-page policy manifesto – Trump acknowledged exactly the kind of work they’re doing and applauded them for “lay[ing] the groundwork” for his next administration.
“They’re going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do,” Trump said of the Heritage Foundation and their efforts to – as they describe on the Project 2025 website – “pave the way” for Trump’s next administration.

The alarming new power Trump will claim in a second term
Donald Trump says that if he returns to the White House in 2025, he will have the power to effectively cancel any federal program — or even an entire agency — by refusing to spend money appropriated by Congress.
Trump made the extraordinary announcement on the policy section of his presidential campaign website, Agenda47. In a video, Trump says that the president has “the Constitutional power to stop unnecessary spending through what is known as Impoundment.” According to Trump, if Congress appropriates money that he decides is unnecessary, he has the authority to “refuse to waste the extra funds.
The Republican Version of “Law & Order” Is Dictatorship
The first is that Trump is making the conservative view of law and order explicit: Any part of the justice system which intersects with his behavior is corrupt and illegitimate.
But this same justice system should be used to execute criminals who the maximum leader deems problematic.
That’s dictatorship. Pure and simple. It is the official policy of the leader of the Republican party. And I defy anyone to show me an elected Republican in good standing who will contradict it.

If you think the Republican party has moderated on abortion, you’re being hornswaggled (otherwise known as “Hide the Ball”
The fact that the Republican Party even has a platform this year and not simply a statement of loyalty to Dear Leader is a step forward. Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, is something of a unique candidate in that he has very few actual policy positions, and really only four areas of interest when it comes to governing: Immigration (none), crime (crack down), the economy (restrict trade with China and spend away), and executive power (maximize it). He’s not a details guy; he is not that interested in the nuts and bolts of day-to-day governance. He wants power, praise, and a big wooden desk.
One issue he absolutely does not care about: Abortion.
and How Trump Played the Media on Abortion
The 2024 GOP platform continues to assert that fetuses are protected by the 14th Amendment. But it drops the explicit call for federal legislation and a Constitutional amendment.
We proudly stand for families and Life. We believe that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees that no person can be denied Life or Liberty without Due Process, and that the States are, therefore, free to pass Laws protecting those Rights. After 51 years, because of us, that power has been given to the States and to a vote of the People.
The new language sounds slightly different and emphasizes state action. This is consistent with Trump’s strategy of avoiding answering questions about abortion by claiming the issue should be left to the states. It is written to be more palatable to swing voters. But, substantively, the policy is exactly the same. The platform says the 14th Amendment protects the unborn, a position that would require a complete abortion ban. This position, if adopted by judges appointed by Trump, could impose a national abortion ban without legislation or a Constitutional amendment.
