No surprise that this creep is lying but honestly, why should anyone accept that he is a fit person to be president. Wasn’t fit the first time, proved he was not.
Have been looking at photos of what the devastation looks like from the hurricane, particularly around Asheville. That part of North Carolina is utterly gorgeous, but compare with these photos from yesterday. My sister lives in Florida and I was concerned that Hurricane Helene would be affecting her, but shocked when I looked later at the weather map to see what a huge amount of storm was heading up north. However, it is hurricane season which goes between Jun1 2024 through Nov 30, 2024. Apparently Trump is ignorant of that as he said “nobody expected that”… meaning HE did not expect that.

Not surprisingly, Trump did not provide any evidence for any of these reports, which the New Republic notes “don’t seem to have any factual basis,” and that “Much of North Carolina votes Republican, so it would be near impossible for any relief efforts to occur that would neglect conservatives.” Additionally, the state’s Democratic governor has deployed the National Guard and Joe Biden pledged “every available resource, as fast as possible, to your communities, to rescue, recover, and to begin rebuilding.” Last week, the president declared an emergency in North Carolina and, per the White House, “ordered Federal assistance to supplement State, tribal, and local response efforts due to the emergency conditions resulting from Hurricane Helene beginning on September 25, 2024, and continuing.”
The day before the hurricane hit, President Biden signed the disaster declaration for them. AND, he started sending money and CALLED up government heads the next day. There are at least two press conferences in which the governors talked about this. Trump lied about that. When President Biden was asked about this, he called out that Trump was a liar.
Don’t forget that Trump’s Project 2025 wants to take money away from FEMA and dismantle the weather service (NOAA) Wonder how many people would really like to see such a great service downsized and commercialized, so that maybe it would COST YOU to find out a hurricane is coming.
Project 2025 calls for breaking up NOAA, commercializing forecast operations
Project 2025 is the conservative Heritage Foundation’s policy blueprint for a Republican administration. Trump has disavowed it, but it was written by several former Trump administration officials. In 2022, when Trump gave a keynote speech at a Heritage event in Florida, he said the organization would “lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do.”
Project 2025 includes about four pages on NOAA and the National Weather Service. That part was written by Thomas F. Gilman, who was an official in Trump’s Commerce Department.
The document describes NOAA as a primary component “of the climate change alarm industry” and said it “should be broken up and downsized.”
The National Weather Service, one of six NOAA offices, provides weather and climate forecasts and warnings. The National Hurricane Center is part of the National Weather Service within NOAA.
Here’s Fox News calling out the news and the person speaking, Jessica Tarloff, points out that when Trump was president, his admin denied the majority of help for those hurt by the hurricane during that time.
I’ll tell you what is also just weird and awful. Trump could not wait to go down to North Carolina, even though he had not been asked, and used some rubble from the hurricane to make a podium for himself. Just a disgusting person. Ugh.
