Back in August, I did an open records request to Nikki Weedon, auditor of Somervell County (Related: Updates on Public Information Requests to Somervell County) I did not know what this was, except that it appeared to be a lawsuit from Gray against Somervell County; I was correct, except that it’s still hanging out as an anticipated lawsuit (why?) and involved apparently some complaints that were lodged against others by Gray.

This came from the Expense Approval Register packet from 8/12/2024

Weedon contested sending me the purchase order to the Texas Attorney General’s office

and the reply, from a law firm that Somervell County uses, replied yesterday. Some of the information is redacted but it’s clear this is with regard to the anticipated lawsuit of Cyndi Gray against Somervell County and we taxpayers paid $150 for this.

It’s interesting to me that, rather than having someone that deals with Open Records locally, Somervell County has decided to pay a law firm to handle these and undoubtedly the taxpayer pays for this.
