I have two elected officials that office at the Texas State Capitol. One is Senator Brian Birdwell. I called up there today and spoke to the person answering the phone, who told me that all the offices at the Capitol are open to the public and anyone can enter. I suppose the reason for knowing they are public is because it is common sense. I further asked if she knew if there is any law or notice that the offices are public and she did not. Also, photography is allowed at that office, and the person answering the phone did not know of any signs outside other offices restricting it, but for their office, again, Brian Birdwell’s, they do not.
Also spoke with someone from Helen Kerwin’s office on 6/24/2025 regarding the offices at the State Capitol. That person told me that the offices, since they are paid for by the taxpayers, are public offices. Kerwin had been an elected official in Somervell County in the past and also on City of Glen Rose Town Council. She said, via her staff, that the offices in the government building (Somervell County) are public.
