Wrote about this before. Basically, I asked for records regarding complaints about or from Cyndy Gray. Chambers replied that “no information exists”. However, within the next days after that, I got back a reply on a related records request that showed that, in fact, there *were* complaints from Cyndy Gray, as an attorney that Somervell County contracted with referenced them. Chambers had what I considered an outsize reaction to my complaint and I told him that I believed his office was not in compliance with my request but that I’m “in agreement with you that that the AG can decide this, which may or may not be in my favor”. The AG said today that they had to accept what Chambers said in response. I find it extremely hard to believe that, since there is an *anticipated lawsuit* (Note that the lawsuit has apparently not been actually filed but Somervell County has retained a law firm) with Gray that in part hinges on her complaints, that Chambers would not have the complaints or have “right of access to”. I remind that the attorneys that Somervell County is paying at taxpayer expense said to me
Factual Background
Cyndi Gray is an employee of Somervell County. She currently holds the position of Interim Manager/Director of the Somervell Expo Center and previously served as the Payroll Clerk. She has filed formal grievances against Tammy Ray, a County Commissioner and Valerie Williams, the County Treasurer, alleging mistreatment and a hostile work environment. Ms Gray has also made verbal threats of litigation against the County, including specifically to the County Attorney as well as other officials. These circumstances and threats prompted the County to retain the undersigned’s law firm to represent the County in connection with the anticipated litigation.
Anyway, this is the resolution of this open records request. Does that mean I still do not want to know about what prompted Gray to threaten the County Attorney, Trey Brown? Nope. I would think, though, that both Tammy Ray and Valerie Williams would want to know what these complaints say and could do their own open records requests to find out, maybe send them to Haley and ask her to please forward to the entities that DO have those complaints, if Chambers does not as he certifies below.
First, here is what Chambers sent to the AG in response to my complaint

And here is the response to me from the AG which says, in part “When a governmental body represents to this office that it has released all existing responsive information, we must accept its statement.”

This situation with (the felon) Cindy Gray just gets deeper and more ridiculous as time goes by. We wanted her out of the Annex and away from handling money so the Commissioners and the County Judge moved her to the EXPO where there is no accountability. She is given the keys to the Kingdom! The boss she answers to now is the Auditor who works for the District Judges out of Johnson County. I question if they are aware that they have employed a Felon or not. Did the Auditor ever tell them that they have been employing a Felon?? She handles money, orders whatever she wants, and throws tantrums when she doesn’t get her way. Her audacity level is pretty much above the bridge of her nose. She has a pending lawsuit against our county if they should decide to terminate her. For any reason. Our county has actually hired an independent Law Firm just in case she decides that she doesn’t like the terms of her new hire conditions. Her pay has to equal what she was making at the Expo (even though she chose to run that venue). If she was paid that amount then she would be making as much money as the Auditor of whom she is employed. Human Resources doesn’t agree with Gray coming back in on her terms. She believes by law that Gray comes in as a new hire. By the terms of any other major corporations that’s the way it works!
What dumbfounds me is why would we want to rehire anyone who already wants to sue our county. Think over that for a second. Who is more screwed up, her or our County??? When this thing does unravel, put the children to bed, the elderly in their homes, and hunker down until the smoke clears. If you know something spill it, lets talk about it.
