First, I need to work on some site things like putting in some spam safeguards. I have tried a few things over the past year or so including moderating comments so that they have to be approved, or allowing registrations, etc. The problem with allowing all registrations (but still moderating comments) is that there is still spam going back and forth with the spammers emailing to get the passwords, etc. So, for now, I have turned off registrations and will be finding a plugin to add some additional features, like wordpress forms.
Second, every once in a while, I get an overload of Trump and the Republicans and am going to take a break for awhile and just watch kdramas and do other things. I’m of the opinion that Trump is a huge monstrous and divisive person that works on me like poison after awhile. I also have a strong belief that Trump represents organized crime
I also have a pile of books that I have not read yet and I want time to read them, undisturbed by the monster. I feel in the times we are in that I want to avoid State Media controlled by Government which is in direct contradiction with our values of Freedom of Speech. When you see broadcast stations in thrall to fascists, I no longer want to see them, will write more about this subject after a bit of time goes by, but suffice it to say that I refuse to watch anything from ABC, FOX, NBC or CBS. The question always is, how to get information that is not propaganda. You can only get propaganda from anything connected to the White House or it’s agencies, and when a media company decides not to be neutral but bribe a president, I have to avoid it. I was not a subscriber to Disney but I will never be. And here’s the thing, there are other wonderful things, like books or other stations not controlled (or attempted to be controlled) by Trump to explore, even if it’s just a palate cleanser
A few are history books, which I utterly love. Current stack includes “Bad Company: Private Equity and the Death of the American Dream”, “Infamous Scribblers: The Founding Fathers and the Rowdy Beginnings of American Journalism”, “Mountain Meadows Massacre” and also “Devil’s Gate”, both about Mormons, “One Hundred Years of Solitude” and “Love in the Time of Cholera” by Marquez, “Sex Among the Rabble; an Intimate History of Gender and Power in the Age of Revolution; Philadelhia 1730-1830, “They were her property; White Women as Slave Owners in the American South”, “Dry Run” by Judy Nawrocki for Glen Rose, “Careless people; a Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed and Lost Idealism” (about Zuckerberg and Facebook, and “the Slave Ship: A Human History”.
Will be back!
