I saw this the other day.
Just 10 months ago, Todd Smith was preparing to stand trial, accused of soliciting exorbitant fees in exchange for state hemp licenses. Smith was a top political consultant for Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, whose office provided the licenses.
Less than a week after prosecutors subpoenaed Miller to testify in Smith’s trial set for October, Smith pleaded guilty to commercial bribery and accepted a deal offered by prosecutors that will dismiss the charges after two years if he follows the terms of his probation….
Three months after his guilty plea, Miller hired Smith to be his chief of staff at the same state agency at the center of his case.
Miller, in his third term in state office, had never employed a chief of staff before Smith. The new job came with an annual salary of $218,582, making Smith the second-highest paid employee in the department of nearly 700 people — earning more than Miller himself.
Anti-DEI crusader Sid Miller urged UT to enroll student emphasizing her race and socioeconomic status -Oh, he’s a political weathervane? Or was he just trying to extend favors to people
Now Ken Paxton who is an adulterer really really wants to push the 10 commandments being put up in public schools, despite at least one lawsuit in which the school districts won not to post them. Maybe the ones that still have it can put up a picture of Ken Paxton as an example of what adultery is
Texas AG Ken Paxton hired a former staffer to work on a recent case. As a state employee, her labor would have cost taxpayers $641. As a private attorney, Paxton allowed her to bill $3,780 an hour, so that day of work cost taxpayers $24,570. (Published July with @texastribune.org)

Had to laugh about this with Greg Abbott. There is NO WAY that Texas would ever encourage the National Guard from other states to just invade Texas without, uh, getting PERMISSION and an ASK from Abbott. Course we all remember when Abbott loaded up busses and dumped people in cities up north WITHOUT ASKING. I suppose WE are paying for the Texas National Guard to have gone to Chicago, although a judge has now ruled with a TRO against this. Here’s what Abbott said about rainbow painted crosswalks
“Texans expect their taxpayer dollars to be used wisely, not advance political agendas on Texas roadways,” Abbott said in a statement.
Yuh-huh 🙂
