There has been a long standing argument between a company that has bitcoin miners that some residents living near there find incredibly noisy. If I am remembering right, at some point the company put up some higher walls around their area, which from what I could tell on a map was near Pecan Plantation in Granbury. In order to have more control over the bitcoin miner company, some residents got it put on the ballot to incorporate Mitchell Bend as a city rather than just part of Hood County. The company, MARA, went to court to try to block the ballot measure, but a judge denied their request to block the election. The ballot action failed 138-52

Supporters had been campaigning for months in an effort to regulate the Bitcoin operation, owned by MARA Holdings, within its boundaries. They say the mine makes a constant humming noise that has caused health issues including lack of sleep, nausea and vertigo.

“[It’s] not my best day,” resident Danny Lakey, who lives within sight of the mine, said of the election results. “It’s very disheartening.”

There’s a third bitcoin plant, Constellation, being considered in the area as of Sep 2025,
