Hah, EVEN Chip Roy, who to me is on the scumball ladder level knows this is unethical. (It’s also probably completely illegal and unconstitutional) Don’t forget 1. This money would be a payday for Repubicans PAID by taxpayers and 2. What Jack Smith did by subpoenaing phone records did NOT get the conversations and it was NOT illegal. 3. at least some of these people were caught trying to help Trump on Jan 6th attempted overthrow of the government
@neguse.house.gov: "I think it is outrageous for these Republican senators to effectively guarantee themselves million-dollar paydays, a provision in this bill that very clearly applies to them. … This is insanity to allow this provision to go forward"

Contrast this with the Ted Cruz addition to the bill to open Government giving a right to sue Smith for accessing call logs….https://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/10/us/politics/senators-shutdown-smith-phone-searches.html

Q: A provision was added allowing senators to sue the US govt for $500k. What do you say to that? JEFFRIES: House Democrats are gonna offer an amendment before the Rules Committee to get that self-dealing sick provision out of the spending agreement

Note that not only did Republicans vote against ACA benefits, but also there was a provision that the American public not have to pay any part of Trump’s expensive ballroom (Trump said that there would be no taxpayer dollars used but you know, he lies all the time) Republicans voted against accountabiilty for that too.. all after 1:00 am in the morning
