I am so looking forward to spending a lot of time with family and friends over the next month, have a lot of things planned. We all celebrate christmas a secular winter holiday, as an occasion to hang out, blab, eat delicious foods and watch fun movies, in other words, the warmth of good relationships.
What is really amazingly great about the time we live in is the ability to speak via computer chats with others in different parts of the world. I’ve often thought about immigrants in the past, before technology, that came from other countries to a welcoming America, but might never even so much as seem members of their own family or friends ever again.
I also am going to consciously avoid social media during this time, including writing to this site. As readers know, I despise the weirdo that is currently running this country into the ground, the political party, particularly Congress, that is allowing him to do it, and going to immerse myself into literature instead. I have some great books (at least I hope they will be) that I want to read.
In 2024, for a few reasons, I repeatedly was sick. One time was with a particular brand of flu, then another and it just felt like from around Thanksgiving to about February of 2025, I was either somehow exposing myself to illness or getting over it. As most people know where there are children involved where the kids are themselves exposed to a variety of illnesses, I could not avoid illness. I don’t like, as most people don’t, I’m sure, being sick. When Covid was going on, I didn’t get sick one time, and I attribute that to avoiding closed areas, wearing masks and limited contact with others. Also changed in the last few years to doing online shopping, including grocery pickup from the local store. The tradeoff, of course, is not having as much social contact. Coming into winter again, I’ll be following the same pattern. I have family in both Texas and in another country.
Anyway, whatever any one is doing this time of year, I hope it is highly pleasant, full of wellness and warm experiences.
