For quite a while, and after Donald Trump had been criminally convicted on 34 felony counts for falsified business records in what colloquially was called the Hush Money Trial, I would see a flag in someone’s yard that said “I’m Voting Convicted Felon 2024” in a yard on County Road 2008.I could not imagine what is wrong with the person who thought that was somehow a selling point for how to vote. However, I figured it was a local Republican, since they have, despite saying they are christians, no boundaries for ethical goodness. I don’t think any readers of Somervell County Salon have any misapprehension of what I think about the criminal who is currently in the White house but I’m always somewhat sorry when I see others that do not uphold the law and encourage others to venerate a law-breaker.I,, on the other hand, appreciate the members of the Somervell County Sheriff’s Department, for example, because I respect law and order and following the law (even when I believe that the local authorities have made mistakes that they need to rectify or risk losing the respect of citizens)
At one point while driving by, I took a picture of the flag in his yard.

The wind was blowing that day but you can clearly see that the flag Turner was flying was this one

Maybe he just thinks it was a good joke. Maybe if he gets elected, the citizens in Precinct 2 will appreciate that he’s the kind of guy who believes it’s okay to have a criminal as president. I don’t happen to believe someone like this will take their concerns seriously.
I suspect he may belong to the Republican party, which would make sense since they are the party of bigots and losers, who also find it enjoyable to give hero worship to a creep like Charlie Kirk. (Note that I one time ever voted in a Republican primary for someone and I deeply regret it because it was a Republican primary and feeled soiled for having done so).
Anyway, people do have choices on who to vote for and, unlike Trump, who wants to prevent people from voting at all, at least we citizens can do so in this county, even if I myself feel like the people who are Trump-lovers are no ones I want to associate with.
Great opinion. But yes – Me and the vast majority of Somervell County, the Stste of Texas, AND the United States called BS on the democratic party’s war on Trump and to boot, as an “in your face” moment, put him in office. Maybe you’re in the wrong county, state and country.
I am certain I am not in the wrong county, state or country, there are plenty of people that live here who also agree with me. The point of what I wrote is whether, other arguments you have aside, the United States should have put a felon in the highest office in the country. I believe in law and order, and find it appalling to see someone who might possibly represent our local government openly touting that he supports a felon. Even if every person on Somervell County besides myself was against following the law and honoring those who attempt to follow the law and the constitution voted for a lawbreaker, I find it sad that this guy so openly supports a crook. Clearly we have different ethical values.
